Add nyx to your Discord server

nyx is a Discord ticket bot, automod bot, and moderation bot that requests only the permissions it needs, never Administrator access. Adding it takes a minute.

Add to Discord

Opens Discord’s official add-app page, where you pick a server and confirm the permissions before the bot is added.

Set it up in four steps

  1. 1

    Click Add to Discord

Discord opens its official add-app page in a new tab. Pick the server you want nyx in. The list only shows servers you’re allowed to manage.

  2. 2

    Check the permissions and authorize

Discord lists every permission nyx asks for, the same list shown here. Administrator isn’t on it. Click Authorize and nyx joins your server.

  3. 3

Move the nyx role below your staff

In your server’s role settings, keep the nyx role below your admin and moderator roles, but above the roles of members it needs to moderate. Discord only lets a bot act on members whose highest role is below its own, so this way nyx can never affect privileged users by accident.

Open the dashboard and turn on what you need

Sign in with Discord and choose your server. Plugins stay off until you switch them on, and every feature can be toggled per server. Once nyx has joined you get:

    • Slash commands in your server
    • Ticket panels, routing, and transcripts
    • Anti-ping moderation when enabled
    • Automod rules enforced in real time
    • Per-server settings from the dashboard

What Discord shows you in step 2. Every permission on it is explained below.

What each permission is for

nyx asks for 13 permissions. Each one maps to a specific ticketing, moderation, logging, or transcript feature. Nothing extra.

Administrator is never requested

Administrator hands a bot every permission in your server at once. nyx only asks for the specific permissions its features use, so you can see, and limit, exactly what it can do.

Moderation

Used by the Automod, anti-ping and Logging rules you set up, and only when a rule calls for it.

  • Moderate Members

Needed by Automod to place members in timeout when a rule is configured to escalate beyond warnings or message deletion.

  • Kick Members

Needed by Automod when a server configures a rule to remove a member from the server after matching a moderation policy.

  • Ban Members

Needed by Automod when a server configures a rule or escalation to ban a member after severe or repeated violations.

  • Manage Messages

Used by anti-ping when configured to delete mentions, and for controlled cleanup in ticket-related workflows.

  • View Audit Log

Needed by the Logging plugin to identify moderation actors (for example, who kicked a member) instead of recording those events as generic leaves.

Messages

How nyx answers commands, posts ticket prompts, logs and announcements, and builds transcripts.

  • Send Messages

Required for slash-command responses, ticket prompts, anti-ping notices, ticket logs, and general bot output.

  • Embed Links

nyx uses embeds for ticket headers, anti-ping messages, logs, and other structured responses.

  • Attach Files

Needed for transcript attachments and future file-based support exports generated by the ticket system.

  • Read Message History

Required for transcript generation, moderation context, and ticket workflows that depend on earlier channel history.

  • Mention @everyone, @here, and All Roles

Required for scheduled embeds and other announcement-style messages when a server intentionally configures nyx to ping @everyone, @here, or mention roles.

Channels and roles

Seeing the channels you pick in the dashboard, opening and closing ticket channels, and giving out reward roles.

  • View Channels

nyx needs to see configured support channels, ticket channels, and guild locations before it can respond or manage workflows.

  • Manage Channels

Required for creating ticket channels, applying permission overwrites, and deleting or archiving tickets when they are closed.

  • Manage Roles

Needed by Progression to give out level reward roles, and by Tickets to set who can see each ticket channel. nyx can only hand out roles that sit below its own.
